Abuse Poem by Lindsay Elise

Abuse

Rating: 4.8

You were so waiting for me to jump into the deep end
Where the splash would engulf and wash away
Everything
I have ever dreamed
And you’d pluck the pedals off all my flowers
Making sure it was always ‘he loves me not’
Shamefully
You never allowed a fantasy.
So maybe I messed up once or twice
In this world of a million and one mistakes
But you
Needn’t play the jester.
For one day you’ll be on the tracks, hopelessly tangled
As the train blows it’s ghostly whistle
And you
Can’t move a muscle
