A Year With Jennifer Poem by Robert Combs

A Year With Jennifer

Rating: 2.0

all the love I ask of God is in this place
delivered by an angel
Eden's legacy
no less the need
needing still the kiss that stills the darkness
desperate for the one who shares my night
giving me
a window to a mirror
to see a grace beyond the grace of being

rendered into my life by your hand
eloquent reminders of your love
veranda nights
this last year of incandescent memories
revisiting the rich days with you
so full of love and
one more gift from you
there is no darkness anymore
nothing I imagined matches these days
needing
wanting
loving
having
you

and each thought was there
even in those years without you
hidden beneath ripples in the darkness
the long innocence of days
yearning for what I now have
more prodigious than the panoply of night
embedded in the very act of being
resident in every thought and word
a yearning absolute and infinite
revelation of eternal feeling

silent in the longing of the soul
yet dancing motionless to songs unheard
