A Wild, Wild Party Poem by Deanna Samuels

A Wild, Wild Party

Wow!
It was a wild, wild party
a wild, wild night
music was loud, blasting
spirits flowed freely
snacks in abundance
dancing, jiving without pause
endless energy
talking, joking, laughing, shouting
floorboards moving, creaking
staircase squeaking
doors forever closing, banging
lights ablaze, dimmed, ablaze again
Deep into the night the party raged
music permeated the street
Suddenly - a wail of sirens
neighbors had had enough!
The music stopped abruptly
a noisy scramble of feet
house emptied in seconds
party goers scattered wildly
too nimble to be caught by lone patrol
Left behind - their party chaos
rooms in complete disarray
drink glasses spilt and overturned
popcorn and chips carelessly scattered
furniture stained, linen crumpled
The whole place a disaster
a nightmare for any cleaner to ‘do'
And what was also left?
A red-faced teenager of the house
trusted to be a grownup overnight
thinking up wild excuses -
excuses to explain away this fiasco
while sheriff completes the charge form
for the fine of disturbing the peace

An interesting piece nicely put together with vivid imagery. A beautiful creation......
