A Widows Complaint Poem by Nancy Handabile

A Widows Complaint

Each night I yearn for your arms

The arms that held me through thick and thin

This is my burden to yearn.

Sometimes a strong sensation to replace your arms siezes me

But my burden 20 years on

Is the same

Your arms could not be anothers

I could never fit into anyones arms as I did in yours

So tonight dear Fred, I atleast will be in your arms again

Aided by 20 brufens, a prayer for forgiveness,

I will lie on my bed and pray to see your arms reach for me
Again.
