A Whole New World Poem by Diana Newsome

A Whole New World

I relish the camera's eye,
through the lens so much exists
people, places & things I may not have encountered,
otherwise; with the naked eye...

A whole new world unveils itself
I acquire a keen sense of my surroundings
patterns & colors, shapes & sizes
the curve of a tree's trunk, naturally...

the expansive sky beckons my attention
changing from one moment to the next
reds, pinks & blues in dawn's arising,
big billowy clouds floating lazily by in summer afternoons...

even as stars begin to adorn the evening sky
I remain inquisitive with camera in tow
I am drawn to shadows in twilight
how light scurries darkness from sight...

I have a blast hanging out with friends, taking pictures
getting crazy, catching some one off guard in the midst of laughter,
capturing the outline of one's face in mood
creating memories that will last a lifetime...

I feel different behind the lens
a poetic act in its own right
not only through expressing thoughts and writing them down
but visual senses detailing moments in pictures and time.
