A View From Here Poem by RIC BASTASA

A View From Here

a house is deserted
beside the sea
the waves are gentle
the coconut tree stands
the cassava plants are steady
a cab passes by
carrying a man and a child

this is a closed room
with glass windows

you see the water from the pipe
flowing fast as though chasing some gravel

you hear nothing.
except your words.

you are talking
alone. how can you stop?

a silent world.
