A Spade Poem by the Nickster

A Spade

I remember a time when everything was simple-one could call a 'spade' a spade
but, somewhere down the line, we have changed-not necessarily for the good, but a change nevertheless...
We have become politically correct, but our youth have lost respect
We trust God when terrorism strikes, but prayer in school isn't liked
We grew up on the 'rod of correction', now DYFS gives parental directions
Baby dolls and racing tracks-the Christmas favorites for kids
Now, their priority is, 'How long does my baby run the risk for S.I.D.S.? '

Where have we gone wrong? And, what must we do to correct it...

I dare someone to say, 'Our youth are disrespectful because we failed to teach respect'
I dare someone to say, 'In God We Trust on the U.S. dollar really has meaning', and put prayer back in schools
I dare someone to say, 'DYFS has gone overboard', and put an end to their madness
I dare someone to say, 'Free condoms in school only prevents ABSTINENCE'
I dare someone to call a 'spade' a spade.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Obviously, I'm an old school type person. A lot of the current changes aren't beneficial in my opinion. These were a few that bothered me in 2003.
