A Song On Hockey Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

A Song On Hockey

A Song on Hockey
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
Hockey is hexatennis
The hockey stick has a curved angle
While the tennis racket has strings
Which tug at my heart strings
Hockey brings out my 3D curves
For the puck gets in a 3D net
Canada is born to play hockey
And born to enjoy tennis
If intensity is a perfume
A full bottle comes to you with NHL hockey;

Hockey is not techie
But full of plucky
Tennis has finesse
And is full of hits and misses
Hockey has shots
The shovel is swell
The wrist is the best
The snap is the map
The backhand makes the land in the goal;

If I had hockey on my resume
I would have believed in decking up rather than
Crosschecking for I am a whuss at heart.

Hi Gayathri, As an Indian (though you may not be very happy to acknowledge) , you should be doubly proud that India is the birthplace of hockey.
