A Soldiers Heart Poem by Sharron Stephenson

A Soldiers Heart

To be a soldier marching in a squad of,
Buddies. Left, your left, your left right,
Left. A mind set of courage and prayer.
Overseas and home. Side by side of friends,
And foes.
Open eyes of fear strikes the heart. Poles,
Away families, feels the stress and loneliness.
Day after day the knock on the door. The,
Fall of the FALLEN.
Lets us cling together.

War after war, to defend the homeland of,
Trust and love.

Air sea and land men and women stand and,
Fight. A planet of millions, lay down the,
Guns of hate and stretch the hand of,
Freedom. King God and Country.

War after war to defend the homeland of,
Trust and love.

Break the line of blood and tears, replace,
With smiles and warmth. Never to late to say,
stop.
The pride of a medal to honour the brave,
To mourn the passing of a soul, with,
A poppy to the heart
