A Rebel, An Outlaw Poem by Steven Elsner

A Rebel, An Outlaw

I vowed to be a better man
But I'm going against the plan
I'm a rebel
My own selfish demands, I propel

I vowed to end my disdain
But that's all that remains
I'm an outlaw
From society I withdraw

I shall forever be on the outside
Never knowing love's tide
Striding amongst the hated
Being terribly ill-fated

I'm a shadow
Only an echo
A clone
My path I'll never own
