A Prayer Poem by Ell Ell

A Prayer

Do not pray for the
cloudy heavens
do not pray for the
fiery hells;
do not pray for the
loyal followers
do not pray for the
worship lost.

Do not pray for the
happy bishops
(nor the gurus or saintly prophets)
do not pray for the
mountains
and sunny hills;
do not pray for the
winter with icy breath
do not pray for the
summer with ceaseless light.

Do not pray for
gold and gleaming silver
do not pray for
riches and easy days;
do not pray for
sex and endless booze
do not pray for
happiness without a cause.

Do not pray for
salvation upon our sins
do not pray for
enlightenment to free our minds;
do not pray for
utopia for all our lands
do not pray for
days to wither and end.

Pray for love, to one and all;

Pray it lives throughout your days.

Because in the end, it's all we have.

So use it.
