A Number In Slumber - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

A Number In Slumber - Lincoln Park Zoo

A naked mole rat I do be
Taking a rest from digging chore,
As like most of my colony,
I just keep digging more and more.
With my long teeth I dig the dirt,
And take care not to swallow it.
My mouth sensors are on alert,
Giving a heads up when to spit.
Of course the digging wears me out,
And so I lay me down to sleep,
With all my co-workers about,
Huddled together, warm we keep.

Come and visit me, yes please do
At my digs in Lincoln Park Zoo.
