A Novel Idea: Or Simplicity Poem by Terence George Craddock

A Novel Idea: Or Simplicity

Rating: 5.0

I thought sometimes
it is possible to write
the essence of an entire
novel into a single poem

so write poetry
some poems
have an essense
an entire novel

some have not
simple poems
simple thoughts

surprise surprise
never knowing opening
what you will get

Words only carry feelings and simple words reaches faster than jargons and phrases, It is difficult to sum up novel in poem, few are exceptional with it.5****

Actually the first Poetic Book in the Old Testament is Job, Hebrew 'prose prologue and epilogue narrative framing poetic dialogues and monologues'. It meets the novel critic in themes and length.

'the essence of an entire novel into a single poem' is the implied emotive power and theme, which I believe the poem 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' achieves; not the poems length as few poems would be long to make even a novella

Simplicity exceed beyond imagination, as Mahatma Gandhi said: There is goodness as well as greatness in simplicity, not in wealth.

Mahatma Gandhi has long been one of my esteemed revered figures as an aspired to role model. Gandhi features in a few of my early poems, one was the poem 'The Colour Bar' back in 2010.
