A Million Birds, A Thousand Tears (Learning To Smile Again) Poem by Prince ....

A Million Birds, A Thousand Tears (Learning To Smile Again)

A million birds take to the skies
searching for the answer to my anguish
reaching out to mend my broken mind
flying free cos by your hate I'm bound
with a million chains of steel
screaming from my bloody mouth
A million birds fly

A thousand tears have fallen
for the thousand scars you've branded me with
This fire is haunted by the look in your eyes
as you carved these words into my flesh
No water can quench my fury now
not even your own pitiful tears

I'll make you pay for my pain
These birds will eat your heart
peck out your mind, devour your flesh and sing
your screams will be music to my ears
as I break these bonds
and as my words break you
I'll learn to smile again.
