A Little Less Corruption Please Poem by Matthew Holloway

A Little Less Corruption Please

A little less corruption please
Wanting to bend the ears of governments
And the corporations which own them
The other countries which ply strings
Like masters of puppeteering
Can you, on even just a few occasions
Let the voices of the public be heard
Let the votes be counted and acknowledged
Give us that little bit of hope and belief
That the world is not such a bad place
That what we do can make a difference
All I'm asking is for a little less corruption
A small slice of the pie you are carving
To feed some portion of light
Into this world, it's not much
But better than a revaluation
And the academics and soldiers
Taking office to replace
Your soulless caricatures
Leaving you powerless, weak
And answerable to a true government
