A Lass In Black Poem by Gerard Heathcote

A Lass In Black

A gloomy day fades away
into the evening shadows
Not cast by the purity of the sun
but man made in shops and cafes

A blackness descends and wraps
my body and its memories
A black shroud my face’s contrast
Flowers to fill the endless void
