A Hollow Reed Poem by Dr. Madan Gandhi

A Hollow Reed

I am a hollow reed
floating in the endless sea
breathing the whale’s song
chiming with the rhythm of waves

I hold tight the shrill cry to my bosom
as I race astride the billowy tide
on way to my ancestral home
hid deep in the entrail of the sea

My breath is the biggest measure I have
to fathom the shoreless vast
to keep count of every falling star
in the sparkling spacebowl of eternity.
