A Dream I Keep On Dreaming Poem by Riitta Gyllenbogel

There is a dream
I keep on dreaming
(waking up every now and then)
in this dream I am afraid
afraid of the people around me
in this dream I dread the things
once done perhaps possibly possible once again done
who knows?
who knows I will be safe
who knows what will happen when
turning from a face toward another face
toward another face toward another face
I'm frightened of all around!
this dream I keep on dreaming
waking up every now and then
when awake I am aware
that I am safe no matter what
that I am loved no matter who that I am
enough
this dream I dream is shared by many
it's pull is hard to resist
and yet I know if we all desist
this dream will simply cease to exist
for the dream is nothing more
than illusion clouding our eyes
weighing us down with the weight of nothing
nothing of any substance
