A Different Way Of Life Poem by Chelsea Lybbert

A Different Way Of Life

Looking above the heads of students,
Feeling confident in my own skin,
But knowing I'm looked down upon,
Knowing when I pass by,
They giggle and laugh at me.
I am different in the way I dress,
The way I think,
The way I write.
But the way I act,
Is no different than them.
I have friends who care about me,
I have parents who love me,
I have a religion,
I have faith.
I go to school,
I have a job,
I have responsibilities,
I have a life.
But because of the way I am,
The way I dress,
The way I think,
The way I write,
They pass me off as a weirdo,
A freak,
A loser,
The devil's creation.
But because I've learned,
I can hold my head high,
And be who I want to be,
I no longer have to try.
