A Clue Poem by John Hawkes

A Clue

A CLUE by John Hawkes

She has a way about her, an honesty you can't define,
A spirit so strong and fierce, a heart as soft as wine

A touch as soft as velvet, a voice as sweet as song,
She is the very essence of woman, how could loving her be wrong.

But how can I describe to you, the fire in her hair,
The depth of her sea blue eyes, and her skin so fair,

And the sadness in those eyes, just the right amount,
Hovers in those eyes so blue, and wrench me to account,

She hates me now for promises not kept, for debts unpaid,
and deep deep regrets,

So, I leave you as to wonder, and decide as you do,
Does this poem describe my love?
Does it give you a clue? ? ?
