A Candlelight At Midnight Poem by Istabraq Al Ahmadi

A Candlelight At Midnight

Rating: 4.4

Whenever I gaze at the candlelight
in a silent room at midnight,
with its flickering flame float
my thoughts that freely over rupture gloat.
And to Eden sail in a seraphic boat
tied to the crimson pulse of the heart.

And in a fiery trance, my soul sways
like melting wax, drops in the old happy days,
when, as a boy blessed with glee,
I roamed the fields and felt free
to gaze with wonder at every tree
that drew from me homage and praise.

And when, as a child of nature, I
was never taught to utter a single sigh
or to shed tears at years bygone
or to shun the bucolic beauty of the sun
which, with love, in my veins run,
and dipped in the deep azure sky.

Often I will sit outside by candlelight writing poetry, glancing at it's flame bowing and flickering before me, your poem brought this to mind in a memory, as it brought back old happy days written in your poem. Candlelight seems to be so delicate in thought, drawing wonder from one's mind to write about. Delightful and enchanting poem which I thoroughly enjoyed! Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn

The burning flame of candle and the silence of midnight call forth memories...beautiful. You have created the right atmosphere for a recollection of old days. Very poetic imagery to describe your love for life n nature. The nostalgic mood of the poem is soothing n puts the reader in a meditative mode. Thanku for taking inspiration from my poem n coming up with a better write. I enjoyed reading thoroughly.
