43 Gentlemen In Evening Suits Poem by Diana van den Berg

43 Gentlemen In Evening Suits

Immaculate
and handsome
though a little plump
they walked slowly
and with some difficulty.

When they reached the water
they swam gracefully out to sea
whistle-clean and free of the oil
that had damaged their wings
and had nearly aborted their lives.
