{4} As Night Departs Poem by Michael P. Johnson

{4} As Night Departs

Rating: 5.0

The night my God’s about to quit
The dawn You bring will soon be lit
Sunbeams climb the horizon’s crest
Your children rise content from rest

As darkness fades, the twilight drains
It takes with it my heavy chains
Surely Your peace floods deep within
My heart now fills, let day begin

My Father God, how sweet the night
I felt You kept me in Your sight
Your love for me will all endure
You’re here to stay, You know; I’m sure

Love; does not creep, but floods in surge
In leaps and bounds, it knows no verge
With tender hands, my God on high
Hold fast this heart, that’s soon to fly

Lord! King of life, within who reigns
I pray reach out take off these chains
That yet restrains and tries to keep
This child, to take the final leap

Oh chains of death, now broke, depart!
The King of life’s within my heart
Death has no hold o’re me no-more
For Jesus owns me, to the core

My heart is like a clock of praise
I feel its rhythm, yet it pays-
No heed to me; but You above
It keeps but time, You give in love

No second; can this child prolong
Through You, it beats and sings life’s song
How wonderful, this child You’ve made
How great the price You freely paid.

A great tribute of love for Christ, the King, that your words in heart do sing! A grateful poem filled both with love and tens! God bless us all, as we all, be inspired by your words. MJG.
