#340 Balance Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#340 Balance

I’m trying to do the things I should,
To refrain from doing wrong.
I’m trying not to be misunderstood
While finding out where I belong.

I’m trying to enjoy the simple things,
Ignoring the harsh and unpleasant.
I’m trying to be free while tied to strings,
Losing dreams but being content.

Keeping the string and dreams intact
Is a part of life called a balancing act.

I’m walking high above the ground
Upon a thin string in the sky.
I don’t speak, I don’t make a sound,
I’ve stopped asking why.

I’m sure one day I will arrive,
I’ll make it to the other side.
For now I move forward to survive,
In the open sky with steady stride.

The string, the fear and constant strife,
Is a balancing act we call life.
