31st Thought Poem by Tyrone Gayle

31st Thought

Why am I thinking so much like I am doing a crossword?
I am so engulfed with thoughts of looking back and looking forward,

I guess it is because it is the last day of the year,
So I am patiently awaiting new joys and new burdens to bear.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem on New Year's eve in 2013 as I rested on my bed. It is not a typical end of the year poem about a resolution. Instead, I had a blistering headache that resulted from me reminiscing on my life in 2013 and wondering how 2014 would be. I simply came to the conclusion that ups and downs would be apart of the new year.

Hmm...I really like this one. Love the crossword analogy and how you have these feelings on the most apropos dayoof the year to have them. For that is the day we look back on the old year passing and look forward with renewed hope to the new year coming. Everything just fits nicely together in this poem. Nicely done.
