3 A.M. Poem by A.E.J. Jordan

3 A.M.

Rating: 5.0

I wake up in the night
It’s a black 3 a.m.
I clutch at my chest
Cause the pain that I’m in

I admit I’m pathetic
A sad state of affairs
Hard to lift up my head
There’s no one there to care

Not an ounce of respect left
I’ve been treated like dirt
Stomped on with black boots
I’m so terribly hurt

Wasn’t always this way
Used to hold my head high
Won’t take any sh-t
Or I’d just say goodbye

All the nice people gone
Rather not be alone
But to stay where I am
Better off on my own
