2 Funerals Poem by ronald stroman

2 Funerals

so many people:
that loved them
placed beautiful flowers,
by the roadside,
lit candles
in memoriam,
for two high school teenagers:
drunk with youthful exuberance,
who tried to race the family car;
around one of life’s curves too fast,
on their way home,
after a late night party.

2 teenagers: that will never know;
their parents & their friends,
wrapped ribbons of tears
and teddy bears,
around the same tree
where their lives ended,
when all their parents wanted

for them:
was to plan their graduation;
from high school
and not… two funerals.
