12.18.08 Poem by J.M Berger

12.18.08

your body
in a pretzel
all twisted
your heart aches

and it's been a while
since i've seen that smile
but it's the kind of thing
you never forget

that's the long and
the short of it
but mostly
it's the longing

you're like italian
spider-man
you're reckless
you'll do whatever it takes

and the end feels
just like
heaven

you got a machine
it does calculated tasks
It solves problems
but it can only subtract

you pull a trigger
and say a prayer
and physics
takes care of the rest

down falls
the night sky
the sunlight
you watch it fade away

(you kiss
your baby
on her head
she's beautiful)
