10th June 2021-A Birthday Poem For Daniel Brick

Rating: 5.0

Before 10th June last year
I was preparing to write
Something for Daniel Brick
He holds a special place
For me as an inspiration and a Guide
Without myself realizing
How profoundly he impressed me
By his humaneness,
Knowledge and philosophy
He has been a guiding light
For many, always ready
To help others putting
himself at the rear seat
His humbleness is a rarity
Seldom found
In this world
Where egoism
rules the roost.

This year on 10th June
I had a packed day
With my preparation
To attend a World Poetry Conference
And my excitement to read my poem.
The event was over
And I felt I was missing something
Felt some vacuum inside me
What was it ?
Now I realize,
it was Daniel Brick
It was his birthday and
I miss the unwritten poems
I would have written for him.

Profound poem. I also shared some warmth relationship with Daniel Bricks. He was a gem of a person. We had many common things to share though we were miles apart and had a huge age difference.

You are so right. He was one of the best of the top poets on this site and in America, Do you know if he ever published his poetry in a book devoted solely to his poems? Thank you for expressing your gratitude for such a good man and great poet.

Thank you so much for this poetry, Daniel died on March 21, but he is alive inside his poems,3 months before he died, he wrote an introduction to my poetry book, I tried to contact him many times to send him a copy but he never answered
