  • POEM: A Solitary Note by Mike Barrett (12/21/2013 6:17:00 PM)

A nice poem that exudes a gentle aura and involves cognitive enigmas.

  • POEM: A Solitary Note by Mike Barrett (2/2/2013 11:48:00 AM)

Your poem is well-crafted, powerful and courageous: A stoutly discerning step to right an enduring wrong, the longest bigotry of history. Bravo, Tom!

  • POEM: Faraway Love by Cherry Cheng (1/1/2013 3:51:00 PM)

This is a pristine, pure and touching poem of longing, Cherry.
Sharing our experience through poetry is medicine for the soul.

The poem was chosen for the annual Dutch Poetry Day Project of the Department of English at the Free University of Amsterdam. In personal correspondence to the poet, Iris Dekker writes:

I found Subway just through Google and reading trough, and when I stumbled upon your poem, I thought it was perfect for a short film. Maybe it was just meant to be! ...The script is based on the poem and follows it very closely, but I chose not to use dialogue in my film. This is because I feel when I'd repeat the images with words, I would be unnecessary doubling-up the visualization of the poem. For almost the same reasons, I used instrumental music. I didn’t want to raise questions about whether the lyrics are the original poetry or not, and I didn't want to damage the imagery or words. Today (January 26,2012) , I would like to show you the result, my video, because you are the creator of this wonderful piece of art.
