    behind the earth's long summoning pale
    falls to evening dappled light
    day's contingent feats and flounderings
    bid adieu to wandering light

    fate's forebodings yet unknown
    turning cards find kismet's claim
    metronomic shadows rising
    guide our eyes to dreams once more
