    Benchmark Creative Writing Competition

    Closing Date: 19th January 2015

    Details:
    Fundraising collaboration between Willow Burn Hospice and writer Rachel Cochrane, inspired by Rachel's latest drama, Benchmark. Competition Prizes: First Prize is a solid Iroko Dalton 3 seater (1500cm) hardwood bench with personalised plaque. To include an engraved plaque (attached) and delivery within the UK. Kindly donated by Faithful & Gould, Victory Signs and Solid Oak Hardwood Furniture. Second Prize is a Kindle kindly donated by David Ridley. Third Prize is a £30 book token kindly donated by Rachel Cochrane. All winning entries will also be showcased in written form on rachelcochrane.com. This national competition is open to all adults.
    Entry Fee: £5 with 40% of that donated to Willow Burn Hospice.

    Magma Editors' Prize 2014

    Closing Date: 19th January 2015

    Details:
    This competition celebrates the short poem and is open to poems of up to 10 lines. The Magma Editors' Prize reflects the magazine's rotating editorship and poems of up to 10 lines will be judged by a panel of Magma Editors who will select a range of poems for 'special mentions' as well as choosing first and second prize winners. First prize £1,000, Second Prize £300, Plus 10 Special Mentions £15 each.
    Entry Fee: £5 for the first poem, £4 for the second and £3.50 for the third and each subsequent poem. Magma magazine subscribers benefit from reduced fees, £4 for the first poem, £3 for the second, and £2.50 for the third and each subsequent poem.

    Magma Judges Prize 2014

    Closing Date: 19th January 2015

    Details:
    Poems of 11 to 50 lines will be judged by Jo Shapcott for the Judge's Prize. Prizes: First Prize £1,000, Second Prize £300, Third Prize £150. In addition to receiving cash prizes, winners will be invited to read at Magma's prize-giving event in Spring 2015. All winning entries will be published in the magazine.

    Third Coast Poetry Award

    Poems: Submit up to three (3) previously unpublished poems at a time in ONE file. All manuscripts should be typed. Since the judging is blind, the author’s name and identifying information (including address, email, phone number, and bio) should only appear in the " cover letter" box; identifying information must NOT appear anywhere on the manuscript itself. Manuscripts with identifying information beyond the text of the work may be disqualified. Postal or online submission.

    Speculative prose poem/flash fiction: For an unpublished speculative (science-fiction, fantasy, horror, magic realism, etc.) work in paragraph format,500 words or less. Blind judging; preliminary readers will select the top ten manuscripts in each division to be sent to the final judge. Winners notified and results posted by March 1. Winning poems/stories will be read at OdysseyCon. Publication is not offered; multiple an simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please withdraw your work immediately if it is published elsewhere before the notification date. PayPal to treasurer@oddcon.com, or mail a check. E-mail your story or poem (maximum length 500 words) , either pasted into the body of the e-mail or attached as a.doc or.rtf, to contest@odysseycon.org. Please put your last name, first initial, and CONTEST: Youth or CONTEST: Adult in the subject line.     Prole Laureate 2015 Annual Poetry Writing Competition

    Closing date: 31st January,2015.
    Prizes: The winner will receive £200 and publication in Prole 16, due out in April 2015; There are two runners up prizes of £50 each and possible publication in Prole 16. The winner and runners up will be showcased on our website. Prizes are paid by PayPal.
