Best Translated Book Awards

Two awards of $10,000 each will be given annually for a poetry collection and a short story collection or novel translated into English for the first time and published in the previous year. The winning author will receive $5,000; the translator or group of translators will receive $5,000. New Millennium Writing Awards

3 poems: No restrictions as to style, content, number of submissions, or nationality. Enter as often as you like. Send between now and November 17, Midnight, all U.S. time zones. Simultaneous & multiple submissions welcome. Previously published material welcome if under 5,000-circulation or if previously published online only. Each fiction or nonfiction piece is counted as a separate entry, and should total no more than 6,000 words except Short-Short Fiction (no more than 1,000 words) . Each poetry entry may include up to three poems, not to exceed five pages total per entry. All poetry Honorable Mentions will be published. Save cover sheet or letter with the submission you'll be uploading and send as one file. Should you forget to include such covers, however, it's OK, as contact information is automatically forwarded to us when you pay online. Payment is $20 per submission in order to cover our many expenses and reserve your book. Each entry must be in a separate file (up to 3 poems in one file) .

Crab Orchard Series in Poetry Open Competition Award

Book manuscript: All unpublished, original collections of poems written in English by U. S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible (individual poems may have been previously published) . Two volumes of poems will be selected. The winners will each receive a publication contract with Southern Illinois University Press. In addition, both winners will be awarded a $2,500 prize and $1,500 as an honorarium for a reading at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Both readings will follow the publication of the poets’ collections by Southern Illinois University Press. Manuscripts are recommended to be a minimum of 50 pages to a recommended maximum of 100 pages of original poetry (12 pt. type preferred) . No more than one poem should appear on a page. All entrants will receive a one-year subscription to Crab Orchard Review. Please submit your file in.doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt, .pdf, .odt, or.wpf.12-point font, Times New Roman or Times preferred. Manuscripts should be single-spaced. Include a Table of Contents. No more than one poem should appear on a page. Submit a single title page with only the manuscript title in your file. YOUR NAME SHOULD APPEAR NOWHERE IN YOUR MANUSCRIPT. Manuscripts may be under consideration elsewhere, but the series editor must be informed immediately if a collection is accepted for publication.

Nightboat Books Poetry Prize

Book manuscript: Any poet writing in English is eligible who: 1. does not have a close personal or professional relationship to the judge; 2. is not a current or recent (within the past two years) student of the judge; and 3. is not affiliated with Nightboat Books. Previous book publication is not a consideration for eligibility. Poems published in print or on-line periodicals, anthologies, or chapbooks may be included, but the manuscript itself must be unpublished. Original work only; translations are ineligible.48 to 70 pages (suggested length) , single-spaced, paginated, no more than one poem per page, one side of the page only. The manuscript must be typed (clear photocopies are acceptable) and bound only by a spring clip. Include two title pages (one with book title, name, address, telephone and email; one with book title only) , table of contents, and acknowledgments page. The author's name should not appear anywhere in the manuscript except on the first title page. Enclose a standard business-size SASE for winner notification. We will not return manuscripts. The Milton Kessler Memorial Prize for Poetry
