    Two prizes of $500 each will be given annually for a short story and an essay. The winning short story and essay will be published in Bethesda Magazine. Residents of Maryland's Montgomery county and upper northwest Washington D.C. (postal codes 20015 and 20016) are eligible for the short story contest; residents of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. are eligible for the essay contest.     “Discovery”/Boston Review Poetry Prizes

    Four prizes of $500 each and publication in Boston Review are given annually for a group of poems. Winners also receive transportation to and lodging in New York City to give a reading at the 92nd Street Y Unterberg Poetry Center in May. Poets who have not yet published a full-length poetry collection are eligible. Timothy Donnelly, Peter Gizzi, Camille Rankine, Atsuro Riley, and Susan Stewart will judge. Submit a 10-page manuscript, including at least two unpublished poems and two poems that are one page in length, with a $12 entry fee by January 23. Visit the website for complete guidelines.

    Prole Laureate 2015
    The winner will receive £200 and publication in Prole 16, due out in April 2015.
    There are two runners up prizes of £50 each and possible publication in Prole 16.

    Four Counties Poetry Competition

    Rottingdean Writers' Group announces the first competition specially designed for poets connected to London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The judge is John McCullough, academic and prize-winning author of The Frost Fairs. Three major cash prizes and discretionary honorary awards will be presented at a ceremony on 25 February 2015: £750, sponsored by Wellesley Wealth Advisory, £250, sponsored by The English Language Centre, £100, sponsored by Chalk Gallery, Lewes.
    Entry Fee: £5 for one poem, £10 for two or £12 for three poems. The fee for each additional poem after that is £4.
