The CCWWP holds bi-annual writing competitions in the same academic years as the CCWWP conference. Entries will be accepted for previously unpublished work in each of the following categories:
Poetry: 50 line limit
Fiction: 3,500 word limit
Nonfiction: 3,500 word limit

INTO and Poetry Ireland Poetry Competition in Memory of Séamus Heaney
The INTO is proud of its tradition in supporting the Arts. We were privileged to share the company of one of our most eminent poets Séamus Heaney at the Consultative Conference on Education in Athlone in 2011. In honour of his memory the INTO, in collaboration with Poetry Ireland, is launching a poetry competition for members. All members, North and South, are eligible to submit a poem. Entries are limited to one poem per member, which can be in Irish or in English. Closing date is 31 March 2014. The decision of the judges is final. The winner will be announced at Congress 2014. The INTO will publish the winning poem in InTouch.

Torriano Poetry Competition 2014.
Deadline: February 28th 2014

Summary: No entry form required. Judged by Angela Kirby, who will read all entries., Poems should be written in English up to a maximum of 40 lines, typed on a single side of A4 paper. They should be original, unpublished and not accepted for publication. No translations. A separate sheet of A4 should contain the titles of poems, name and e-mail or postal address and phone number of entrant. Entry fees: £3 one poem, £5 for two, £10 for five. Cheques payable to the Torriano Support Fund. (Proceeds to the Torriano Meeting House Support Fund) A booklet of the winning poems will be produced. The winning poets will be offered a reading at the Torriano Meeting House on 30th March 2014.

Graffiti Magazine Poetry Competition Rules
2014 is the year of Dylan Thomas and we are looking for poems inspired by Dylan – his life, poetry, Swansea, Laugharne, the Chelsea Hotel etc.
1. Closing date 28 February 2014
2. Entries must be in English and be the writer’s own unpublished work. They must not be on offer for publication or entered in any other current competition.
3. Maximum length 30 lines.
4. Each piece of work, with its title, must be in clear type on one side of A4 sheet(s) . Details of the writer must not appear on this sheet.
5. The name and address of the writer and the titles of all entries should be typed on a separate sheet of A4 paper.
6. The prize-winner will be notified by post, if SAE provided, or by email if email address is provided.
7. Entries are only accepted by post. Please keep a copy of your work, as entries will not be returned.
8. The fee is £2.50 per poem. Cheques/Postal Orders in sterling only, should be made payable to: Catchword Writing Group
9. All entries that arrive on time will be considered by the adjudicator, whose decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into concerning the result.
10. Competitors wishing to be informed of the results should enclose an SAE marked ‘Results’ or provide an email address.
