    A prize of $1,000, publication by Silverfish Review Press, and 25 author copies is given annually for a first poetry collection. Dorianne Laux will judge. Poets who have not published a full-length poetry collection may submit a manuscript of at least 48 pages with a $25 entry fee, which includes a copy of the winning book, by October 15.     National Poetry Competition 2014

    Closing date: 31st October 2014.
    Prizes: First Prize: £5000; Second Prize: £2000; Third Prize: £1000; Seven Commendations: £100.
    The top-three winning poems are published in the Spring issue of The Poetry Review. The winners will be invited to appear at various events and festivals around the country, including Ledbury Poetry Festival. Up to 150 longlisted entrants are also offered a discount on selected activities from the Poetry School. Winning and commended poems will are published on the Poetry Society website.
    Entry fee: £6 for your first poem, £3.50 for each subsequent entry in the same submission. FREE second entry for Poetry Society members (including those joining now) .
    The judges of the 2014 National Poetry Competition are: Roddy Lumsden, Glyn Maxwell and Zoë Skoulding.

    NAWG 2014 Open Writing Competitions

    Rubies in the Darkness Annual Poetry Competition 2014 | Closing Date: 01-Nov-14

    Details:
    An open poetry competition. Poems of any length on any subject, which must be typed. Judge: poet and editor of 'Rubies in the Darkness' Peter Geoffrey Paul Thompson. Book prizes for top three. Your name and address should not appear on the poems but should be enclosed, with the titles of your entries, on a separate sheet of paper marked 'Annual Competition.' Cheques for entry fee payable to P. G. Thompson and crossed 'not transferable.' The top three poems are guaranteed publication in 'Rubies in the Darkness' poetry magazine, and there will be an 'Honours List' of the top ten poems. Also Highly Commended and Commended listings. Results available in December. For notification of results please send SAE marked 'Results' in the top left hand corner.
