Ruth Stone Poetry Prize

Hunger Mountain is both a print and online journal of the arts. They publish fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, visual art, young adult and children’s writing, writing for stage and screen, interviews, reviews, and craft essays.
Hunger Mountain hosts four annual writing prizes.
Poems will be read by Hunger Mountain editors and guest judges. First place winner receives $1000 and publication. Submit up to three poems, not to exceed six pages. Poems must be original, written in English, and previously unpublished.

Sonora Review 2011 Poetry Contest
Sonora Review is 'The Graduate Student-Run Literary Journal of the University of Arizona' Founded in 1980, Sonora Review is one of the oldest student-run literary journals in the country.
A prize of $1,000 and publication in Sonora Review is given annually for an innovative poem. D.A. Powell will judge. All entries are considered for publication, except those from recent students (within the last five years) of D.A. Powell. 2nd and 3rd prize will be published in the journal, and all entries will receive a free journal if they provide shipping costs (a scant $3) .

There is a weekly poetry contest at www.nostroviatowriting.com It can be about any subject and any form of poetry is acceptable. Entry is free and you will be featured as the poet of the week and then put into the Nostrovia Poet Hall Of Fame where your name and writing will be displayed.

The DC Center and Tongue In Your Ear seeks poetry with the theme of 'Quitting Smoking' as part of The Great American Smoke Out November 17,2011.
