    Bradford on Avon Arts Festival Poems-on-a-Beermat Poetry Competition.

    Adjudicator: Martin Malone. Prize giving will be on Wednesday September 3rd
    2014 at the Bradford on Avon Arts Festival. All 10 shortlisted entrants will be invited to read their winning poems at the event, which will also feature a reading by Martin Malone. Winning poems will be published on the Festival website.
    First Prize £200 Second £50, Third £25. All 10 shortlisted entrants will have their poems printed on beermats to be widely distributed in pubs in Bradford on Avon during the town's Arts Festival in September, and will receive prizes of 25 beermats printed with their own poem and name.
    Entry fee £4, or £10 for three poems, with subsequent entries at £3.

    Library of Congress Seeks Nominations for Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt National Poetry Prize

    The Library of Congress is accepting nominations from publishers for the Rebekah Johnson Bobbitt National Prize for Poetry. The 2014 prize will be awarded in the fall.
    The prize, which carries a $10,000 award, is given biennially. It will be presented to an American poet for the best book published during the previous two years,2012 and 2013, or for lifetime achievement in poetry. Publishers may submit entries for the best book; the lifetime achievement awarding is at the sole discretion of the prize jury and the Librarian of Congress.
    Applications must be postmarked by July 31,2014. Guidelines for submission, as well as a list of previous winners, can be found at www.loc.gov/poetry/prize-fellow/bobbitt.html.
    The Poetry and Literature Center at the Library of Congress fosters and enhances the public’s appreciation of literature. The center administers the endowed chair, U.S. Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry; coordinates an annual season of readings, performances, lectures and symposia; and sponsors prizes and fellowships for literary writers.

    2014 Wasafiri New Writing Prize

    The prize is open to anyone worldwide who has not published a complete book.
    Three categories: Poetry, Fiction and Life Writing.
    Fees: £6 for one category, £10 for two categories and £15 for three categories.
    To enter, simply fill in the entry form and send it to us with your entry and fee in UK Sterling.
    The closing date is 5pm GMT on 25 July 2014.
    A maximum of 5 poems can be entered and the word limit for Fiction and Life Writing is 3000. Other terms and conditions apply.
    £300 will be awarded to the winner in each category and their work will be published in Wasafiri.

    The Bigger Picture - Reflections on the Great War

    Closing date: 23rd August 2014.
    Prizes: First Prize - £50, Second Prize - £30, Third Prize - £20.
    Entry fee: £2 per poem
    This year marks the centenary of the outset of the Great War and entries are invited of short works of poetry written in response to any work of art associated with World War One. " Work of art" in this context can be a painting, a song, a poem, even a film or a soundtrack to a film. The interpretation of the term is entirely up to the entrant. Maximum lines-50.
