I acquired a copy of the newly published 'Ariel - the Restored Edition', with much of her original manuscript scribbles on it - it's fascinating.

Good luck understanding her even using Sue's novel white noise idea. Her condition and the language she used were unique to her. Even if you're suffering from similar mental ailments, you might not be closer to understanding her. In fact, you just might be further off in your own language of madness.

Now to understand, try to read it as she would have written it.
Turn your tv to white noise. Wait until you think you are on the edge of madness and think, just think that maybe it is whispering your name and trying to tell you a secret, but God you cannot quite catch what it is saying. yet, oh my God it is so important to understand what it is saying.

it may help the loneliness, Your husband is indifferent to you, much as you pour the love of a disordered mind upon him. he has not the passion or desire that you require. No one does!
So listen, listen for the message, the secret that will free you from the madness inside.
It's there if you can just hear it..but God you cannot.
So you write the passion inside the words.
    Can they then be heard!

only by others who hear what you hear and see in the shadows the things that aren't there.
    Can you understand her now?
