The Bow Poem by Steve Olver

The Bow

Rating: 5.0

Give me another string to my bow
We say as if ‘twill somehow help.
But with the bow, its arrow flight
Together as one act will shoe.

When we forget the draw of string,
Load of arrow and hold just so,
Way to stand and how to be,
Our missive to target will straightway go.

So when we ask for more string to our bow,
Our abilities to show,
Don't be tempted to dwell on thought or how
- - why not just; let go!

Man talks as if all wills are free
Of choices he then plies;
But only he, belly full and tearless eyes
Makes plans that for others cannot be.
