Jason Stoneking is an American poet and essayist who got his start as a teenager in the So You're a Poet reading series in Boulder, Colorado, where he had the opportunity to read alongside such legendary performance poets as Allen Ginsberg and Anne Waldman. He won the regional poetry slam in Denver in 1994 and performed on the main stage at that year's Lollapalooza festival. He also represented Colorado in the National Poetry Slam of that same year. In 1997, he released his first collection of poems, Double Edged Pen, which featured a foreword by singer/songwriter Tori Amos. Then in 2000, his second collection, no demon no god, was released by Onestar Press in Paris. In 2004, he placed second in the Brentano's Paris Poet Lauereate competition. His poems have been included in numerous reviews and magazines, including Les Episodes, Big City Lit, The Factory, and Feng Shui. He has also published two collections of essays, and continues to perform his work across the United States and Europe.
