I must trust the universe.
I must take my cue from the stars:
I must listen to the infinite wisdom
Hidden in their shining silence.
...
I thought about viewing the moon last night,
Full and heavy as it hung in the sky,
But this year as the rice ripens
And the wind picks up
...
Love me when I’m grumpy.
Love me when I’m curt.
Love me when I’m frustrated.
Love me when I’m hurt.
...
Find me a book
And let me get lost in it.
Open the cover
And shut out the world.
...
Time drips like lime down the sides of my soul.
Layering my lifetimes with a mineral film
Clouding my awareness of the vastness
Of the cave of my own evolution.
...
The roses glow in their own white light.
Hints of pink hide in their folds
As bright summer tones warm from below
Giving the illusion of life within.
...
Serene in my tree house
With my tart and my tea
I look out at the living green
Of lacy bamboo leaves
...
Life humbles me.
In all of its complexity,
Its depth
Its fathomlessness.
...
Talk To Me
Sit with me in the shade of this tree.
Tell me who you were, who you are,
...
Lift the pole
Let the boat drift
Listen to the wind
As it rustles in the leaves
...
Surrounded by leaning cedar trees
We drive slowly along narrow roads
Edged in with drifts of rusty pine needles
Hoping each curve will be the last.
...
Love comes when you least expect it
Like a kitten at your window on a rainy day
Scraggly and mangy and mewling.
...
The quality of light in November,
When the sun rises lower in the sky
And the rays of sun that filter through
The colored leaves take on a clearer hue,
...
Shall I compare you to a desert horse?
You are as sturdy and as without a name.
Hot winds do parch and from my throat do force
Entreaties for a cool life-giving rain.
...
Imagine if we imagined God
In the image of a woman
Instead of an angry man
Demanding vengeance and allegiance and strength.
...
Looking out this winter window
At white snow dusting green leaves
I sit and contemplate nature
And my artificial place on it.
...
There is something sexy
About a gentleman.
The way he treats you with respect.
The way he doesn't expect you
...
Isn't it funny how light changes our perception?
How dull rust leaves transform into crystal claret
When a beam of light finds its way to them -
Catching our eye as they seem to come alive?
...
I choose to be human.
I choose to hope.
I choose to despair.
I choose to rage.
...
There may be no God.
There may be no absolute rights or wrongs.
There may be no life after death.
There may be no final end.

Trust The Universe
I must trust the universe.
I must take my cue from the stars:
I must listen to the infinite wisdom
Hidden in their shining silence.
Everything that must be, will be
In its own time, of its own mind.
I am meant to sit in witness,
To observe, to learn, to accept.
The more I try to assert my will,
The more I flail in my own failings.
The more I question and doubt,
The more my spirit seeps out.
I may seem remote.
I may appear cold.
I may hold myself separate
From the ripples of panic
Flowing out from so many souls.
I simply hold myself steady.
The road ahead is long and uncertain.
I must preserve my energy.
I must keep parts of me in reserve.
I must tend my tiny garden.
I must mend my fence and stock my shelves.
I must rely on my own resources
Until this storm passes and sanity returns.
Bonjour Suzanne. how do you do? I still have in my memory our beautiful communication. I miss you. I cannot get access to your poems this time. bises Roland
Simply put... this poetesse is charm, brilliance and delight...
Good day, Miss. I would like to ask your permission post your poems in my FB, IG and tictok page
I know this reply is very late, but if you see it, you are welcome to share my poems wherever you like.
For you who may be new to Suzanne’s poetry, she is simply one of the best poets posting in PH. Read just a few poems, and you’ll find a consistent and recognizeable voice. Read on and you’ll find a thoughtful woman with a good portion of humor in her perspective and soul. -Glen Kappy
I am amazed at the beauty of your poetry. May God bless you with hundreds of autumns to carry on this path of poetry.
I have read some of the poems of Suzanne Hayasaki and felt mesmerized by their beauty. Even the complex feelings and emotions have been expressed with such a great finesse that it lands on the reader's heart gently but leaving a profound impact. My Best Wishes. Thanks.
Love your poetry, you are so preternatural, such of an naked, authentic and profound insights with an enchantingflow.
An extraordinary writer of depth, and sophistication!
