Young Love Was Fleeting

Their affair was nearing its end.
To hours of romance they said 'amen'
Never poetic and vaguely synthetic
'Twas an off and on kind of blend.
~~forever on lease and lend~~

She regards him now as a friend,
Very little she knows of other men.
He regards her as a pearl
A young and sweet innocent girl.

Keepsakes to each other they send
Staying 'just friends' to the end.
First love was fleeting ~ a high and
low sweeting. Young love was fickle
~~forever on lease and lend~~
