What can I do for Chandini?
What can I do
To bring a chirpy gleam into the tired sunken eyes?
What can I do

This is a well written piece. I have known people that did not know they were cold or aching just thinking that this is the way life is. We all need more than this out of life.

To one who keeps this question- what can I do for her- in mind will definitely strike a solution. The will to help the helpless is great
This is my third visit to this poem and I've the same feelings of appreciation for a rural woman's hectic routine captured so truthfully.
The fate of our village women is artisically painted.my favourite
Revisiting this wonderful poem. A powerful and thoughtful write. Government must introduce schemes or programs to uplift the condition of Chandini
How can she aspire for a little time/Just to sit, relax, or stretch her aching legs/To stare at the trees and admire their leaves/She has to sweep, swab, dust her house/Wash clothes and utensils....but she leads a life of happiness and peace despite her poverty! I examine this poem from this angle this time! A great poem.
When the birds sing in chorus in the early hours of dawn, Chandini has no time to listen to the sweet twitter tee, She walks swiftly with pots on her head, For water! She must fetch from a far off well. What can i do for chandini. this question should reverberate in the hearts and ears of all those rich people.......... thank you for this dear poem. my heart cries with the poor. tony
I saw the picture accompanying your compassionate poem and all of a sudden another picture came to my mind.....a new age woman holding a child by hand and keeping an eye on other one sitting in the grocery cart.....trying to get her shopping done. This is only one of her chore while million others wait for her from dawn to night. With out being judge mental an exchange of time, place and circumstances taking place in my mind.
Well, being an American male, i can suggest these solutions to Chandini: " For a little time, Just to sit, relax, or stretch her aching legs, " ....WORK FASTER! ! AND if she wishes " to stare at the trees and admire their leaves" , she can work either FASTER..or she can " stare" and " admire" as she is picking fruit in the forest. (i'm [sort of] joking) (cont.)

Speaks of your thoughts and concern for Women at large. The poem clearly empathises. It also rang a bell for me of our everyday maids in the city who run from one household to another, caring little often about having a simple meal on time. For they know another woman of the house depends on their extra par of hands. Congratulations for this making it to Poem of the day!
How can she? isnt that the question this society has for most women. Well Im glad that you are my mentor mam, having the potency to break the stereotypical image of a women. this poem will touch the right chord in everyone's heart. And the best part is this poem is dedicated from one women to another women. So proud to be learning from u mam. let us all attempt to change the question from How can she? to Why Can't she?
chandini.....etimologically from MOON..........is an apt poetic correlative for the underpinned message.....aspiring for a little time to...........others just waste kicking legs.....she is under the yoke of CHORE wonderful by any definition
This poigant poem unfolds meseries of many Chandinis. An impactful poem on burning social issue.
