Why? Why Not Go To Sleep?

Why? Why not go to sleep?
We worked so many years
And all the years and yet
Lower and lower in the deep.
The twilights are on us.
The reign of Sadness is
The reign of us.
We walk as ghosts, already.
That is desolation.
Yet that is consolation:
Remember: we have had
Failure after failure after failure.
