Waiting On God Poem by Reason A. Poteet

Waiting On God

blank verse, prayer

I am anxious and naturally I turn to you, my God.
I want your answer now but I am learning to wait in peace.
Eternal Keeper of Promises, You are the Prince of Truth.
Truth stands the test of time; You are prompt in exposing falsehood.
Keep me from falling into the trap of being deceptive.
I long for fellowship - the true friendship of trusted colleagues;
yet I must live among imposters who thrive on fraud and lies.
I warn them of the scars of deceit but they fight all the way.
They lie even more, God when I tell them of your gospel truth.
Jesus, as I weather their thunder, I wait in peace on You.

inspired by Psalm 120
