The Pastor's Wife Poem by Doreenda Nikoi Kotei

The Pastor's Wife

I love myself and how I look,
I enjoy my life and all the blessings comes with it,
I'm grateful for what I have and don't have,
I acknowledge and accept my roles and responsibilities,
I focus on my strengths and work on weaknesses,
Sometimes, I'm overwhelmed with my duties: the ministry, my family and the society,
But I try to keep my cool and seek divine help and wisdom in all my endeavours.
I train myself every day and night to befit the opportunities given me,
I train, read books, attend conferences, observe and learn new skills from the experts,
I add value and build my confidence to outshine in my calling,
I have the time to listen, understand, attend to and serve people,
I create my space and make the most out of it,
I am gorgeous, gracious and glorious,
I'm anointed, blessed and highly favoured,
My beauty is beyond compare: I know that for sure.
Nothing is complete without me because,
I am the Pastor's Wife.

I love my Pastor,
He is my Dearest Husband,
An honourable man of great valour, virtues and values,
He is deep rooted and gounded in love, leadership and discipline,
He always has me by his side,
I am his number one fan and cheerleader,
We don't always get along with everything:
We argue and get cold at each other sometimes,
But almost every time,
We know how to get back into each other's loving arms again.
He makes time for me and the family,
And that's why to us, he's the Best Dad!
He's always shining in our eyes: our joy and happiness.
He's the King in our kingdom, our father and friend.
I pray for him, encourage and motivate him.
I stand with him and keep him going on and on,
I give him peace, space and time when he needs yhem
And when he's up there ministering,
He's certain that I've got his back!
I am the Pastor's Wife.

I love the church,
They're like the sheep of the shepherd,
That need to be shown genuine love, care and service,
I sacrifice, polish and prepare myself for them,
To inspire, empower, nurture, refine and groom them,
I get involved in their lives: physically, emotionally and their general wellbeing,
I create opportunities to help establish them in the future,
I mould and mentor the youth to take up enviable positions,
They are the gifts that have been bestowed upon me,
The higher they get, the higher I go,
The farther they get, even more will I go,
The better they are, the more finer I am too,
The brighter they get, the more glow I also get,
And to me, that is the highest accomplishment I will ever want.
To live an exemplary life and be a reference point of excellence.
Of course, that's my husband's dream too.
To bring out the very best in others.
I am the Pastor's Wife.
