The Ninth Configuration: - Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane Poem by Shaun Cronick

The Ninth Configuration: - Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane

Rating: 5.0

Twinkle Twinkle, Killer Kane,
Madness reigns in your domain.
A caring psychiatrist you proclaim,
To help one recover is your aim.

A biker gang you've ripped to pieces,
Buried thoughts your memory releases.
For now you know who you really are,
Insanity, psychosis, for you did scar.

Now your final act to help that one,
Your suicide and note and all is done.
A most respected person he's now become,
Shocked back to reality, your task now done.

He receives a message from the other side,
A medal gifted by you long after you died.
Realising your miracle has turned the tide,
Now in tears, remembering you with pride.

Twinkle Twinkle, Killer Kane,
So many slaughtered, so many slain.
Through your insanity, through your pain,
Your self sacrifice was not in vain,
For a better man, you now became.

Dedicated to Stacy Keach and William Peter Blatty.

Dominic many thanks and this I dedicated to the actor Stacy Keach who portrayed Killer Kane in the movie The Ninth Configuration. And dedicated to the late William Peter Blatty who is a genius in his writing and also directed the movie. The original book by Blatty was called Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane. And is a real page turner of the highest order. Thanks again and take care.

Soran thank you for your most gracious comments. And this poem is dedicated to the actor Stacy Keach for his enthralling portrayal of Killer Kane which was written and directed and starred the late great William Peter Blatty. The movie called The Ninth Configuration from Blatty's book called Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane. Both are brilliant in equal measure.

I like the way you have juxtaposed a pleasant children's nursery rhyme with the troubled Killer Kane character Shaun (btw great use of alliteration) Shaun. It creates a very unsettling, dramatic effect. Indeed, you are are without doubt THE master poet of horror writing on this site! Consequently, it's a full on, fearsome, fearful five from me.

What I noticed in the poems of the conscious intellectual, the serious reader and the talented poet Shaun Cronick is that difference from the rest in delving into the midst of adventures, so that in his poems we find incidents, events and narration as a horrific movie or dramatic episode, and this style is specific to him only, we congratulate Shaun for his distinguished and rare works
