The Mallard Poem by Ima Ryma

The Mallard

Record set by The Mallard train
July 3rd,1938
In England's countryside domain,
Steam locomotion at its great.
Little Bytham and Essendine,
Stations the train was 'twixt and 'tween,
Then locomoted by design
To make the fastest record scene.
Driver Joe Duddington did get
The steam engine to full power,
Success on a new record set,
One twenty six miles per hour.

It rested some at the next town,
The Mallard needed to cool down.
