The Horses Prayer Poem by Dennis Cuchiara

The Horses Prayer

As I lay me down to sleep I pray that I my human keep. I pray that she may always be, as close to you as she has been to me. As she feeds me with grain and hay, so give her and hers their daily stay. Lead her on as she leads me, in pastures green and paths so free. Ride with us along the trail and keep us safe from all assail. And when the day is over and night is drawing neigh, safe in my stall I rest till morning greets the sky. Now when all my days on earth are ore, as other horses've gone before, I hope that they will also find, a human just as good as mine, to ride with them on heavens shore, throughout eternity till time's no more.
