A golden face, forever smiling,
You held the reins of your destiny,

I can't believe that a decade has already passed since reading this heart-wrenching poem. And it's as warm to my heart as ever.

The Essence Is you- - this is a trace of that mystic streak in you that draws me to your poetry. You are a child of your country, my dear Hazel, and we are enriched by that a thousand fold! ! 10+ I presume she was not found and is still missing from Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland. Our thoughts and prayers hold her up to our Lord.

Your choice was love, as your soul ran free, Cherishing the roots that made you, When you disappeared the sun was blotted out, Dark clouds brooding over the town, ...../// beautiful poem penned you were into the veins as the love, now every bud seeing the rising sun for your scarcity of a bit smiling ............//// yeah touching

So sad to hear about this situation, about Fiona and the others. After reading your comment I found out this was your first poem posted in this site, funny how I picked this very poem to read from your list. Whatever the forces that may have been involved here cannot destroy their essence, eternal energy and the love others have for these women. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you.

This is a shocking news, a profound poem dedicated to all missing persons is the generosity of the poetess who feel the pain and the agony of near and dear ones. Great gesture and a nice poem 100++

An amazing tribute to Fiona! And all missing women. Only someone with great compassion and empathy could write such a heart-rending poem. Hazel, you have done her, and them, a great service. I wish that Prime Minister Trudeau would read this profound poem. Belated Congratulations on Poem Of The Day! !

Magnificently penned, in these short lines we feel Fiona's essence. What a beautiful tribute. I travelled on a bus to Moore , Co Kildare, the same night Jo Jo Dullard disappeared many years ago. Another beautiful young lover of life. No trace remains..........heartbreaking

This was the first poem I posted to Poemhunter years ago at that time there was no option to reply, it is only in the last year or so they have introduced this option. I think at this stage it would be very unfair to reply to only a few comments as they are all wonderful comments. I'm humbled and delighted with the amazing response to my poem! Thank you all so much!

No trace remains of the flower that was you, Only sadness and death is left on the doorstep, The essence lingers long over a midland throng, The essence is you watching from heavens view. BEautiful poem on the missing Fiona...... where did she disappear. Ireland is a small country.....but plenty of rocky areas. the sea.. where did she go. i am moved by this poem. thank you. dev

I came back to this poem of you, dear Hazel, it is my fourth time. A tribute so sensitive. You compare her to a flower as I did in my ''The flower''an elegie to a young niece of mine lost in her 29. Relatives and friends unfortunatelly have to live under the pain of events like that...
